About

My name is Trevor Thompson, and I created ModernXMedicine to honor the doctors of the past, spotlight the breakthroughs of the present, and inspire the future of healthcare.

I grew up in Arlington, Texas, one of five siblings. As the middle child, I learned early how to listen, lead, and stand my ground — skills that would serve me well in medicine. I graduated from Juan Seguin High School, where I first became fascinated by human biology and started wondering why healthcare outcomes could vary so drastically based on race, language, and income.

That drive to understand the science behind inequality brought me to Baylor University, where I double majored in Biochemistry and Mathematics. My days were filled with molecular biology and differential equations, but my nights were for community — I stepped with Phi Beta Sigma, mentored younger students, and started realizing that I was just as passionate about people as I was about numbers.

I earned my M.D. from Meharry Medical College, a school grounded in mission and service. While there, I was selected for the Vanderbilt Medical Scholars Program, where I took a dedicated research year to study chronic kidney disease progression in African American patients with APOL1 variants and sickle cell trait. I worked closely with leaders in nephrology and contributed to published papers in JASN and JAMA.

Team

I’m now a third-year Internal Medicine resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, training with a focus on cardiology. I’ve passed all U.S. medical licensing exams, and my time in residency has only deepened my interest in patient-centered innovation. I contributed to a quality improvement (QI) project focused on improving breast cancer screening follow-up for non-English-speaking women — helping bridge the language and systems gap so no one falls through the cracks.

Long-term, I want to build cardiovascular solutions that integrate technology, equity, and early intervention — pushing medicine toward a more preventive and personalized future.

And that brings me to ModernXMedicine.

This platform was born out of deep respect: for the physicians, scientists, and thinkers who shaped medicine, many of whom history has overlooked. At ModernXMedicine, we tell their stories — not just through visuals and apparel, but by breaking down key breakthroughs, fascinating studies, and medical history that still shapes our lives today. My goal is to create something that informs, inspires, and makes people feel proud to be part of this profession — whether they’re just starting out or decades into their journey.

Thanks for being here. This is just the beginning.
